Sound Therapy

Sound has been used for healing for thousands of years. Think of the protest songs of the ’60s,  the spirituals of the South, Jazz, the mantras of yoga, and the drum beats of Indigenous cultures.

Sound facilitates shifts in our brainwaves using entrainment.  Entrainment synchronizes our fluctuating brainwaves by providing a stable harmonious frequency.  Using rhythm and frequency it becomes possible to down-shift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness), and even reach theta (meditative state) and delta (sleep; where internal healing can occur). Using this principle we create a coherent vibrational state of mind. Tune-up, so to speak.

An Aquarian Sound Therapy session uses an Acoustic Sound Table. This is a massage table fitted with 7 speakers, a subwoofer, and an equalizer. Music is played through the table causing the main platform to vibrate gently. This surrounds the body in vibration that takes you into a meditative and relaxing space.  In addition, music is sent to headphones to optimize the frequency effects. Reiki, singing bowls, or tuning forks may be used to assist the session. The small vibrations of the sound waves are thought to shift the water in our cellular fluid into a cohesive pattern that is beneficial. Cymatics is the science of acoustic stimulation within the audible sound range on biological systems.

A typical session is 1 hour to 1.5 hours.  The client remains fully clothed.  Soothing harmonic tones and music is played and felt through the table. In addition, a Reiki session begins directing universal energy to flow via a gentle touch on various parts of the body (shoulders, head, hips, knees, feet).  In addition, singing bowls and other sound instruments may be used.

Curious about the idea of sound and healing. The science is called Cymatics and you can learn more about it here: How does it work? more…

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.  Yoga, for instance, teaches there is more to our breath than an exchange of Oxygen, there is a subtle life-force energy called “Prana” that is received when we breathe in addition to Oxygen and air exchange. A force that creates vitality and health. This life force energy comes from sunshine, food, breath, love. We can harness and build this subtle light with yoga, fresh foods, clean air, and higher consciousness. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". IT clears and balances our subtle body, known as Chakras and Auras.

Yoga, Tai Chi and Qi Gong build life force energy, too.  Reiki is beautiful and simple way to gather light and step into a state of grace.  If you do not have any experience with yoga or meditation it is difficult to put into words. Reiki is best experienced.

There are 5 principles of Reiki:

Just for today, I will not be angry
Letting go of anger brings Peace into the Mind
Just for today, I will not worry
Letting go of worry bring healing into the body
Just for today, I will be grateful
Being thankful brings Joy into the Spirit
Just for today, I will do my work honestly
Working Honestly brings Abundance into the Soul
Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing
Being Kind brings Love into the Will
